California Lifestyle Farm was created to share the experience of almost 50 years of living on what I use to call a small farm. After being questioned by my son, I researched the definition of a “small farm” to find he was correct. The type of farm I have lived on for most of my life is correctly referred to by the U.S. Government as a “Lifestyle Farm”. Lifestyle Farms by definition are small farms whose operators report a major occupation other than farming.
Growing up in Fontana, CA, my family grew large gardens as well as fruit trees. They also raised various animals including cows, sheep, Nubian goats, chickens, pigs, ducks, rabbits, turkeys, bees, and dogs and cats of course.
After graduating from high school I went on to earn my bachelors degree from Cal Poly Pomona in Horticulture as well as several certifications and licenses. I am a Certified California Nurseryman, a Certified Arborist, and an Board Certified Entomologist.
I now live on just shy of an acre of land in Yucaipa, CA where I maintain a half acre fruit orchard along with grapes and berries.
The intent of his website is to share our activities on our Lifestyle Farm and the tools we use and prefer to accomplish tasks in the kitchen, the garden, and on the farm.
